• Teaching and management
Since 1969, Eduard Kazaryan worked at the Department of Solid State Physics of Yerevan State University as a senior lecturer and then as an associate professor. 1975-1985 he headed the Department of General Physics of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, 1985-1986 he was the head of the Science Department of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Vocational Education of the Armenian SSR, 1986-1987 Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Vocational Education of the Armenian SSR, 1987-1988 - Rector of the Pedagogical Institute named after Kh. Abovyan, 1988-1990 First Deputy Minister of Public Education of the Armenian SSR, 1990-1991 Professor of the Department of Solid State Physics of Yerevan State University, 1991-1993 Director of the Scientific Center for Higher Education Problems. 1993-1999 Eduard Kazaryan was the head of the Department of Solid State Physics at Yerevan State University and the vice-rector for the development of university education
1996 was elected as an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. 1999-2001; Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, 2002-2004: Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, 2004-2006: Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Academician-Secretary. Since 2006, the head of the Department of General and Theoretical Physics at the Russian-Armenian (Slavic) University. 2012-2018, the director of the Institute of Mathematics and High Technologies of the Russian-Armenian University. 2018- 2023, the chief scientific adviser of the Russian-Armenian University, since 2023, the chief adviser to the rector of the Russian-Armenian University. • Scientific activity
The main areas of scientific activity of Kazaryan are: solid state physics, optical properties of semiconductors, issues of exciton physics, physics of low-dimensional semiconductor systems (nanostructures). In particular, he proposed a new plasmonic mechanism of optical absorption in semiconductors, proved the possibility of single-phonon absorption in a size-quantized system. Recent studies are devoted to the theory of electronic and optical properties of nanostructures of complex geometry and for various models of limited potential. In the early 1990s, Kazaryan first initiated studies of the physical properties of quantum dots of ellipsoidal geometry. At the same time, he formed a new class of problems - the study of physical phenomena in quantum dots of nontrivial geometry (ellipsoidal, lenticular, conical). The calculations were based on the stationary adiabatic method due to the special geometry of the systems under study. In parallel with the class of problems mentioned, edited by. Kazaryan and his students have conducted intensive studies of the electronic and optical properties of spherical and cylindrical nanosheets, as well as quantum rings.
